Prayer was great this morning. We had about 8 people show up bright and early at 6 a.m., and we went through the regular routine. But it’s never a routine with God, is it? It’s cool that even though we gather every week at the same time, with the same format, God is faithful to give us fresh insight and encouragement. Here’s what we usually do:
6-6:15 a.m. – Individual Prayer
6:15-6:22 a.m. – Worship Songs
6:22-6:45 a.m. – Group Prayer
We’ve also been reading this “new” version of the Lord’s Prayer. I know I sometimes catch myself just spouting off the traditional prayer without really thinking about what I’m saying, so it’s helpful to hear it in different words once in a while. Here’s how it goes:
Dear Father always near us,
May Your name be treasured and loved.May Your rule be completed in us.
May Your will be done here on earth just the way it is done in Heaven.Give us today the things we need for today, and forgive our sins and impositions on You as we are forgiving all who in anyway offended us.
Please don’t put us through trials, but deliver us from everything bad. Because You are in charge, and the glory too is all Yours, forever, which is just the way we want it (Amen!).
